Meet Cara – she is the gorgeous little angel who came from this beautiful bump. She was not very happy when I met her the first time and after trying to settle her for a while (at least taking some photos in the process) I decided to call it a day and come back a week later. It was well worth the effort as she was totally relaxed and sleepy the second time round! Baie geluk met julle pragtige klein dogtertjie, ek weet sy gaan vir julle nog baie vreugde bring!

Karlien is my brother’s girlfriend – she is a wonderful addition to our family and I couldn’t have chosen a better person for him to be with! I recently took some photos of her and her sister that they wanted to give to their mother as a gift. I had a wonderful time photographing these two beautiful girls – just look at their amazing eyes!

So, the day after the shoot on Sune’s actual birthday, I went back to De Zalze to photograph her first birthday party. We’ve been experiencing some really dodgy weather, but luckily the sun came out for this special day and Sune and her friends were able to explore the wonder of a birthday party for the first time.

Ilse booked a shoot to fall on Sune’s first birthday to mark the special occasion (photos of the party to follow in a seperate post). She has the most gorgeous head of curly blond hair! I had a constant urge to run my fingers through it! Sune was quite serious for the duration of the shoot, not trusting my motives with the big black camera. Luckily she is so cute, that smiling was not required to capture the sweetness.

I met Erne on the wine estate where they live just outside of Stellenbosch. On the day of the shoot, she was less than a week away from giving birth to her second child – doesn’t she look beautiful? Her sweet little boy, Stian, was a real star and very enthusiatically played along. I can’t wait to meet their little girl!

I met the Beart’s at their home in the Winelands and enjoyed an hour of fun and laughter with them. They were so relaxed, friendly and fun-loving, that it made my job even more enjoyable than usual!

Sameul | Somerset West Photographer

Sameul was eight weeks old when I met him and his parents at their home in Somerset West. He was not at all a happy camper when I arrived and apparently had a rough night with very little sleep. After we did the family photos with a very unhappy and very cold little boy, we decided to call it a day and give Sameul a break. I returned a few days later and got the the rest of the shots I was after! He is a gorgeous little boy, with delicate features and such a luxurious head of hair. Here are a few of my favourites.

A few hours after I did Julie’s family shoot, we met up again – this time at her mom’s house at De Zalze. It was the first time in years that the whole family managed to get together, so family photos were definitely in order! I arrived just as they were finishing their Sunday lunch and everyone was jolly and relaxed – and with 8 children all under the age of 5, relaxed was just the way I wanted it! We decided to take all the pics at the house, as it would have been a huge mission to get all 19 people to a different location – especially after that lovely lunch

Julie’s Little Men | Stellenbosch Family Photograher

You might recognise Julie and her oldest two boys from this shoot I did for them a year ago. This time around, they were joined by the newest addition to the family, cute little Matthew! We met up on a Protea farm high up in the Helderberg mountain, with breathtaking views over False Bay. It was a cold morning, but after a solid week of rain, we were so relieved to see the sun shining that a little cold air were definitely not going to deter us!
